This section assumes that you re using the Apple LaserWriter 8 1printer driver or the Adobe PS Printer 8 driver. Help on printing SFor information on printing, click an item in the topic list to the right or click an active area below. /You specify the printer to use in the Chooser. TThe age Setup dialog box is where you specify the layout and placement $of page images on the printed page. UThe dialog box is where you specify which pages of the document to Sprint, the number of copies to print, and whether to print to a printer or a file. VUse the Set Print Separations dialog box to control the printing of color Useparations. Use the alftone Screens dialog box to specify how to image halftones. WThe Print Files in Book dialog box is where you specify which documents in ter a book to print. File menu > Page Setup Dialog box where you specify how the page should look when printed. The Ksettings in this dialog box depend on the printer driver installed on your o Isystem. For information on settings not described here, see your printer r driver documentation. Paper 4Sets the paper size. If the printer supports custom U 3paper sizes, you can choose Custom from the pop-up =menu. In the Custom Paper Size dialog box, enter o 2the appropriate values for the width, height, and margin, and click Set. 6If your document s page size is larger than the paper 9size, FrameMaker crops the image. Click the page 2image to see the height and width of the page and the margin settings. Moren Orientation +Changes the orientation of the page image. FrameMaker uses this setting only when printing 3thumbnails or when the page image fits on the page t -in both portrait and landscape orientations. Halftone Screens 3Specifies the halftone screen to use when printing ge 2process color separations. You can use predefined 7settings that are optimized for your printer or define 4custom screen settings. The predefined settings are n 4taken from the PostScript Printer Description (PPD) 9file currently selected for your printer in the Chooser. 5Default The printer s default settings. Use this 0setting when you are not printing process color separations. lpi / Settings optimized for your printer. Dialog box where you specify additional information on how a page should Plook when printed. You open this dialog box by clicking Options in the P age o Setup dialog box. OThe settings in this dialog box depend on the printer driver installed on your Msystem. For information on the settings in this dialog box, see your printer driver documentation. Dialog box where you specify the position of the page image on the paper. LYou can control this position only when using a printer that uses roll-feed Hrather than cut-sheet paper. If you re using the Apple LaserWriter 8 or og JAdobe PS Printer 8 driver, you open this dialog box by choosing Custom in \the pop-up menu in the Page Setup dialog box (when an appropriate . NPPD file is selected in the Chooser). If you re using the Apple LaserWriter 7 Nprinter driver, you open this dialog box by clicking Custom Paper Size in the Page Setup dialog box. Width/ Height/ Margin 5Values that specify PostScript page size parameters; 2these values do not necessarily correspond to the 6size of the paper in the typesetter. For example, the :width is close to the width of the roll of paper or film; 4the height indicates how much film or paper will be ll used for each sheet. ,For appropriate values, see your typesetter .documentation or ask your typesetting service 2bureau. Look for information on the setpagedevice 3operator (PostScript Level 2) or the setpageparams operator (PostScript Level 1). File menu > Print Dialog box where you specify how to print documents or books. If you are Xprinting a book, this dialog box opens after you click Print in the Print Files in Book dialog box. OThe settings in this dialog box depend on the printer driver installed on your r e Isystem. For information on settings not described here, see your printer H driver documentation. Odd-Numbered/o Even-Numbered Pages 1Prints odd- or even-numbered pages. Turn on both i checkboxes to print all pages. Registration Marks *Prints crop marks and registration marks. Collate 0Collates multiple copies of a document. Turn on 7Collate to print one complete copy before starting the ( next copy. Moreoo Last Sheet First 5Prints the last page first. Turn on this checkbox if M 5pages come out of your printer with the printed side i face up. Thumbnails 4Prints a reduced image of each page. The image size m -depends on the number of rows and columns of t 3thumbnail images that you specify to be printed on 1each sheet. The maximum number of thumbnails per @ 9page is 81. FrameMaker uses the page orientation 4specified in the Setup dialog box. Specifies the number of thumbnails printed down the page. Columns Specifies the number of thumbnails printed across the page. Print Separations 5Prints a separate sheet of paper for each color used 5on the page. Turn off this checkbox to print all the 5colors together on a single sheet of paper, called a *composite, for each page of the document. Morea BSet Up Opens the Print Separations dialog box 5where you can specify the colors to print as spot or process colors. Skip Blank Pages 3Tells the printer not to print pages that would be ff blank. Dialog box where you specify additional printing options.
